‘Lord's Day bells from Bingham's Melcombe, Iwerne Minster, Shroton, Plush,
Down the grass between the beeches, mellow in the evening hush,
Gloved the hands that hold the hymn-book, which this morning milked the cow -
While Tranter Reuben, Gordon Selfridge, Edna Best and Thomas Hardy lie in Mellstock Churchyard now.’
Extract from John Betjeman's poem ‘Dorset’
So much has been written about the beauty of the countryside in Dorset - but it is no exaggeration. Whether it is because there are no motorways, or that people have passed it by on the way to Devon and Cornwall, Dorset has remained largely unspoilt.
The Dorset Wildlife Trust is a half a mile upstream from Frampton House, The Hog Cliff Nature Reserve and the Kingcombe Centre are close by, the chances are you will see deer from your bedroom window, hear a fox call or an owl cry in the night.
Beautiful stately homes, like Athelhampton and Kingston Lacy, Kingston Maurward and Montacute stand testament to the ancient fertile fields of the county. Open now to visit and admire. Stunning gardens run by the Dorset Gardens Trust, Lawence of Arabia's cottage, Roman ruins and historic Maiden Castle, for animal lovers the world famous Monkey World is half a hour away - there will not be time enough to visit all the sights we have to offer.

We hope you will come back again and again to discover new and fascinating facets of Dorset life.
In your room you will find many guides and suggestions the latest copies of the local magazines - we are sure you will take away a multitude of memories and ideas for future trips.
