Five Star Accommodation
‘I often wish that I had clear, for life six hundred pounds a year,
A handsome house to lodge my friend, a river at my garden's end,
A terrace walk, and half a rood of land, set out to plant a wood.’
Jonathan Swift 1667-1745.
Frampton House has a long history of house guests and visitors.
The main house Frampton Court - which was demolished in the Thirties leaving the remaining wing which is now called Frampton House - played host to a distinguished list of personalities including Thomas Hardy, the painter Sir Edwin Landseer and Prime Minister, Lord Melbourne. Previously owned by Admiral Browne, who built the house in 1704, and then by Richard Brinsley Sheridan, grandson of the famous playwright, the house still retains the feeling of its grander past.
This tradition of entertaining guests has now been continued by the present owners, Nick and Georgina Maynard.
The large drawing room where you can relax before and after dinner is decorated with antique furniture, old family portraits and comfy sofas.

There are plenty of books to read, local information and history to discover and time to plan the next day's activities or just simply enjoy a glass of wine or cup of tea.
The Orangery, where breakfast and dinner is served, over looks the massive cedar trees and park beyond, originally laid out by ‘Capability’ Brown. In the summer drinks and tea are served on the terrace as the sun goes down behind Metlands Wood.
